Capesize market opens trading week on slow note

Singapore—The Capesize market opened the new trading week on a typical slow note. Most market players stayed on the sidelines after the weekend, so that both physical market and paper market saw thin liquidity during Asian trading hours. Freight rates moved in different directions as Pacific market ended its two-week uptrend with rates edging a bit lower while Atlantic basin kept momentum. On the paper segment, the FFA market activity was flattish amid thin liquidity. Bunker prices were little changed June 15 with the uptrend depressed by rising numbers of coronavirus cases, which could slow a recovery in refined products demand.
