EU CO2 prices fall Friday on weaker natural gas

EU carbon dioxide allowance prices were lower Friday, taking a hit from sharply weaker natural gas prices that stymied Thursday’s rise that was linked to the UK parliament’s Brexit votes. EU Allowance futures contracts for December 2019 delivery on the ICE Futures Europe exchange were quoted at Eur22.49/ mt ($25.48/mt) mid-afternoon Friday, down 25 euro cent from Thursday's close, and down from Eur23.02/mt at the close March 8.
