Singapore—Vietnamese domestic scrap prices were stable this week as demand for steel products remained tepid, Vietnamese mill sources said. Bids for 1-3 mm thick scrap delivered to southern Vietnamese mills ranged at Dong 6,400-6,600/kg ($276-$285/mt), unchanged from a week ago, excluding VAT. “It’s weird how import [scrap] prices keep increasing, domestic demand here is still weak for finished products,” a Vietnamese mill source said.
