Oil production in the US slipped below 10 million barrels per day for the second time in two months last week due to hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico, according to estimates from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). The agency’s Weekly Petroleum Status Report, published Wednesday, showed that US oil output fell by roughly 600,000 b/d in the week ended Oct. 16 to 9.9 million b/d. Domestic crude production fell by 500,000 b/d in the prior week, according to the EIA’s estimates, after briefly returning to 11 million b/d (OD Oct.15’20).
