BP has come up with another idea for trying to stop oil gushing from its dam- aged Macondo well in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Officials of the UK-based supermajor say they are studying the use of a riser in- sertion tube as they seek to contain an oil spill that now stretches from Dauphin Is- land, Alabama in the east to Cocodrie, Louisiana, in the west.
