US polyol demand expected to improve in H2, full recovery not expected until 2022

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Demand for polyether polyols and downstream polyurethane systems is expected to pick up in the second half of the year, although a recovery to 2019 demand levels is not expected until 2022. Polyol demand plummeted during the initial phase of the coronavirus crisis, with sales to North America falling 22% during the first five months of 2020 compared with the same period of 2019, according to data from the American Chemistry Council (ACC) and Vault Consulting.
