EVRAZ to start construction works at 3 million t iron ore deposit under Timir project

Under the Timir project, EVRAZ plans to start construction works at Tayozhnoye iron ore deposit with a designed capacity of 3 million tpy. Full capacity operation of the asset is expected in 2017. All the volume will be supplied to the group members. In particular, Evrazruda’s Abagurskaya Sinter and Enrichment Plant will use 3 million t of iron ore for production of 1.5 million t of concentrate, which will be shipped to EVRAZ ZSMK. Thus, the company aims to reduce iron ore purchases from outside. In 2014, iron ore concentrate bought by EVRAZ from Metalloinvest, Mechel, NLMK and Severstal amounted to some 2.5 million t, according to Metal Expert’s data.
