Towards better and safer use of radiation in medicine.

Radiation is indispensable in modern health care and saves lives. Many applications have evolved that use radiation for diagnosis and treatment, which are less invasive and have lower morbidity and mortality than other techniques. New technology and innovative ideas have also increased radiation safety. However, users of radiation in medicine must consider carefully the potential side-effects, such as cancer risks, especially in children.
