SouthGobi reports a net loss of over $196 million during in 2013 annual report

While embattled Mongolian coking coal producer SouthGobi Resources continues its fight to stay afloat, its yearly earnings report didn't infuse a lot of confidence. The company reported a 2013 loss of $196.8m despite restarting its flagship Ovoot Tolgoi mine in March 2013 after production had been fully curtailed for nearly a year. Ongoing conflicts with the Mongolian government, slumping coal prices and question marks surrounding demand from its largest Chinese customers continues to throw doubt on SouthGobi's comeback hopes.
