Norway's Det norske oljeselskap said Wednesday it had taken over the Norwegian oil and gas assets of troubled independent Noreco in a highly unusual deal that reflects the sector's depressed conditions. A Det norske spokesman said the company was taking control of the Noreco assets for no payment at all, and in addition was acquiring a cash balance of NOK45 million ($5.2 million) that comes with the portfolio.
