So far, he said jet fuel costs have risen by 60% off lows seen earlier this year. In late January, prompt USGC jet fuel barrels traded at a low of 82.4 cents/gal, according to Platts price assessments. This helped Delta’s first quarter costs, as Delta paid on average $1.33 cents/gal for jet fuel, down 55% from the prior year quarter. “We are very aware that fuel prices remain volatile,” he said on the company’s first quarters earnings call.
