摘要

Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk—Western sanctions targeting Russia are unlikely to pose a major threat to the existing projects in the country’s Far East Sakhalin region where plans for a major LNG expansion project are moving ahead, according to local officials. Russia plans to pick one of three planned projects to expand LNG capacity on the island of Sakhalin as a priority by the middle of next year, regional governor Alexander Khoroshavin said Tuesday. The sanctions, imposed against Russia over its role in the Ukrainian conflict, target oil drilling in the Arctic and deepsea as well as shale oil projects, and also limit Russian companies’ access to financial markets.
