US petroleum product rail volumes rise 4.8%

Houston—Rail transportation of petroleum and petroleum products in the US for the week that ended Saturday totaled 11,950 cars, up 4.8% from the same period a year ago, the Association of American Railroads said Thursday. Petroleum and petroleum product shipments totaled 485,568 carloads year to date in 2013, 39.3% above the same period of 2012, the group said in a weekly report.
