API threatens to sue EPA over 2014 RFS deadline

Washington—The American Petroleum Institute on Thursday said it will sue the US Environmental Protection Agency if it does not finalize its 2014 biofuels blending requirements by the end of November, as required by law. “EPA has not yet issued a notice of proposed rulemaking for the 2014 [Renewable Fuel Standard], and API therefore anticipates that EPA will not issue the final 2014 RFS in advanced of the statutory deadline of November 30, 2013,” API General Counsel Harry Ng wrote in a letter to EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy.
