EIA predicts output disruptions from storms

Washington-The US Energy Information Administration said Tuesday that this year's hurricane season could result in a Gulf of Mexico production disruption of 19.3 mil- lion barrels of crude and 46.4 Bcf of natu- ral gas. The median estimate is based on a pre- diction from the National Oceanic and Atmo- spheric Association's 2013 Atlantic Hurricane Season Outlook. But the EIA, the statistical arm of the Department of Energy, acknowl- edged that the forecast is highly uncertain.
