UK's upstream investment hits record level in 2011

London-Capital investment in the UK upstream oil and gas industry reached a record GBP7.5 billion ($12.4 billion) in 2011 and is expected to remain high until at least 2014, Edinburgh-based consultancy Wood Mackenzie said in its latest analysis. "The sustained high oil price environment continues to give companies and investors the confidence to progress projects, as demon- strated by record levels of capital investments in 2011," Wood Mackenzie said in a report January 10.
