BLM cuts parcels from controversial Utah sale

Washington-The US Bureau of Land Management has withdrawn some parcels from a controversial December 19 Utah oil and gas lease sale near several national parks, a move environmental groups said does not go far enough. The lease sale, announced November 4, immediately attracted criticism from the National Park Service for offering parcels adjacent to the Canyonlands and Arches national parks, as well as Dinosaur National Monument. BLM would have offered 241 parcels on 359,450 acres under the original lease sale plan.
