US budget eliminates DOE oil,gas research,includes ANWR funds

Washington-The Bush administration's proposed us2.77-trillion budget for fiscal year 2007 would seek,despite Congressional opposition,to terminate the Energy Department's oil and gas research and development programs and to impose fees for the first time on onshore and offshore drilling permits.The budget also assumes revenues of us7-bil from an oil and gas lease sale in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in 2008,and proposes cuts for the operation of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
