Shell Hits Off Brazil

Royal Dutch Shell told Brazil's oil and gas regulator ANP on Tuesday that it found oil in its subsalt concession block BM-S-54 in the Santos Basin. Shell is an 80% stake holder in the con- cession, with French supermajor Total as partner. The block lies 200 kilometers (125 miles) off the coast of Rio de Janeiro state and the well is being drilled 2 kilometers (1.25 mile) below the ocean surface.
