Illinois basin markets mixed in scant trade

Illinois basin prices were flat to lower in limited activity this week. The 11,500 Btu/lb 5lb SO_2/mmBtu coal fell by 25?/ short ton to $43.75/st FOB barge for the third quarter. The rest of the curve was flat. The discount for that coal to the 11,800 Btu/lb 2.5-3lb SO_2/ mmBtu specification narrowed, as customers with scrubbed units are paying less of a premium for the lower-sulfur coal.
