摘要

This work was carried out to breed cabbage cytoplasmic male sterile (CMS) lines and further to produce cabbage hybrids. Three accessions of improved Ogu CMS materials were introduced. The result of identification in the field showed that they were new improved Ogu CMS with normal nectary and leaves growth which made it possible to be used in deed in cabbage hybrid breeding. As the donor parents, the CMS materials were backcrossed with cabbage inbred lines to transfer CMS trait into the latter. As a result, 16 cabbage CMS lines with stable sterility, good adaptability and high combining ability were developed, and 5 superior hybrids were selected. The CMS trait was also transferred into the mother parents of two commercial cultivars ('Jingfeng No.1' and 'Qingfeng'). Compared with self-incompatible lines, the approach by cytoplasmic male sterile lines could increase cultivars purity in hybrid by 5-7%, facilitate parental seed production, and produce equivalent hybrid seeds in yield.
