TURKEY: NOT JUST A STRATEGIC GAS TRANSIT COUNTRY: Recent Oil and Natural Gas Discoveries Also Suggest Turkey Will Be an Oil and Gas Producer

The geographical position of the Anatolian peninsula linking Europe to Asia and the Middle East has made the Republic of Turkey a strategic country for European energy supply. Up until now Turkey has been considered a mere transit country, but the perspective could change soon and production of oil and gas could further boost the growing Turkish economy.
