摘要

Jute composites (JEBCF-10 to JEBCF-50) of mixed matrix materials [epoxy resin of bisphenol-C (EBC) and bisphenol-C-formaldehyde (BCF) of 10-50 wt.% of epoxy resin] have been prepared by hand lay up technique at 150 deg C under 7.6 MPa pressure for 2 h JEBCF-10 to JEBCF-50 possess 28.6-44.3 MPa tensile strength,37.4-56.2 MPa flexural strength,1.1 to 0.18 kV/mm electric strength and >4.1 to 5.41 x 10~(16) ohmcm resistivity.Tensile strength has increased,while electric strength has decreased with increasing amount of BCF content in the composites.Flexural strength is changed a little upto 40 wt.% BCF.Maximum volume resistivity is observed upto 30 wt.% BCF.Water absorption in composites is carried out in water,10%aq.NaCl and 10 % aq.HCl solutions at room temperature as well as in boiling water.Observed diffusivity order is NaCI > H2O > HCI.In boiling water equilibrium water absorption time (6 h) is decreased 28 times compared to room temperature (168 h) without any damage indicating excellent hydrolytic stability in boiling water and even in harsh acidic and saline environments.
