Tribological Properties of Nanomultilayer Coatings for Piston Rings

摘要

In recent years, the occasions of treating air pollution by gases exhausted by internal-combustion engines as a familiar environmental protection problem have increased. From year to year, different regulations on exhaust gases grow stricter. The technological power in dealing with the present-day environmental protection has increased together with a growing concern by companies and the status quo in studies of the most important problems of automobile and automobile parts manufacturers is rather good. However, among automobile engines, diesel engines offer very high thermal efficiency compared with gasoline engines but are distinguished by the intensive exhaust of NO{sub}x (nitrogen oxides) and PM (particulate matter) in large amounts. Therefore, their effect on air pollution is rather strong (in recent years, the technology of after treatment has progressed and the exhaust level has been lowered to the level of gasoline engines). According to a new long-term regulation enforced in October 2005, the amount of such exhausts is reduced significantly and the adoption of a stricter regulation is planned for 2009 (post new long-term regulation), some detailed items of which have been already formulated [1].
