Steam coal prices rising in Europe

Prices for 6,000 kcal/kg steam coal rose from $78-80/t CIF at the beginning of April to $83-85/t CIF closer to the end ofthe month in Europe. The continuous fall in quotations seen throughout March has stopped, but it is too early to sayabout the uptrend in the market so far. The indices have come up owing to stronger euro against the US dollar andseveral big spot deals. Consumption of the material remains massive in the region, but buying interest is poor.
