Impact of training programmes on extent of knowledge among sheep farmers

The present study was undertaken with the objective of measuring the extent of knowledge of sheep farmers about improved sheep rearing practices. Further, the relationship between personal, socio-economic and psychological characteristics of sheep farmers and knowledge gain were analysed. The study was carried out in Ranga Reddy District of Andhra Pradesh. Two mandals were selected purposively as a trained group since, they were included in training programmes and two more mandals were selected randomly as a untrained group. Three villeges from each mandal thus, a total of 12 villages were selected randomly. By using quota sampling method, 10 respondents were selected randomly, thus ther was a total of 120 respondents comprising 60 trained and 60 untrained respondents to form the sample size. Interview schedule developed by Rao and Kherde (1990) with slight modifications was used to collect the data on extent of knowledge score of the respondents were calculated.
