COMPANIES WITH GOOD HEALTH AND SAFETY PRACTICES will be rewarded with lower employers' liability insurance, the Association of British Insurers has promised. Under a new initiative launched by the ABI last month, trade associations and other similar bodies can submit details of their health and safety schemes to an assessment committee. ABI insurers, who make up over 97 percent of the UK insurance business, will then take the committee's report into account when assessing the risk from firms which belong to that particular body's health and safety scheme. Developed following consultations with trade associations, the Making The Market Work project aims to improve access to the employers' liability insurance market, particularly for smaller firms.
