Trends in Pediatric Nutrition

Patterns of illness in children have changed dramatically in the last century, and they will continue to change in this one. This article addresses recent trends in pediatric nutrition as the focus on childhood nutrition has clearly shifted, and somemajor diseases confronting children are now chronic. In past years, we were concerned mainly with malnutrition and ensuring a nutritionally adequate diet. Now we are focusing oh prevention, and health care professionals are urging the public to start promoting healthy eating habits very early on, starting in infancy.
