The UK Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has rejected a proposed moratorium on shale gas development. The department was responding to a report by the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, based at the University of Manchester and the University of East Anglia, which argued that shale gas exploration should be delayed until the US Environmental Protection Agency releases the initial results of a research program on fracing.
