US spot prices are half Northwest European levels and, not coincidentally, US stocks are near record highs and growing, while nationwide strike action in France, now entering its second week, is contributing to a decline in that country's and overall European inventories. Across the entire Atlantic Basin, inventories are virtually flat .with last year at 6.63 trillion cubic feet (188 billion cubic meters) (see table below).
