Congratulations to all those involved in organising the XVth International Congress on the Science and Cultivation of Edible Fungi. Without doubt, it was a great success, the venue was modern and impressive, the presentations of a high standard andall the domestic arrangements went well. Jan Pijnenborg, Chairman of the Organising Committee, Professor Leo van Griensven, Mr Fred Horlings, General Co-ordinator, and their colleagues have every reason to be very pleased with their efforts. While memories will linger on for many years, of old friendships renewed, of new ones begun, of the technical visits, of the Dinner Dance party at the Kasteel Valsbroek, of the pleasant city of Maastricht to mention just a few, the lasting evidence that the Congresstook place rests in the Proceedings. Presented in two volumes, following the style of the Dublin and Oxford Congress proceedings, they contain 123 presentations grouped under several headings about half of them referring to Agaricus bisporus and relatedspecies. At the end of the Congress Professor Leo van Griensven summarised, drawing attention to the three keynote lectures respectively by J. Poppe, A.S.M. Sonnenberg and V.E.C. Ooi. He also commented on the importance of several presentations originating from members of HRI staff.
