摘要

Despite the diverse climates in the areas where mushrooms are grown in Australia, the pests that occur are similar, but their relative importance does vary. Phorids tend to be prevalent in Sydney and Brisbane, whereas sciarids are the main pests in Adelaide and Tasmania. Although cecids occur in all states, they cause problems more frequently in Tasmania than in other areas. The climates range from subtropical near Brisbane and the Gold Coast in Queensland, to warm temperate around Sydney to cold temperate in Tasmania. Around Perth in Western Australia and Adelaide in South Australia, it is classic Mediterranean, with hot (over 35°C), dry summers. By volume of production, at least two thirds of the industry is in the Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane-Gold Coast area.
