After two years, the unfortunate trend of Czech beer production considerably declining (by a total of 14.5% in 2009 and 2010) has come to an end. This is apparent from the data available to the Czech Beer and Malt Association, which include both member breweries and major non-member brewing companies. Nevertheless, the industry has not yet managed to return to the high growth rates recorded prior to 2009. This is due to the economic recession and a subsequent increase in the excise tax on beer.
