Periodic safety reviews o nuclear power plants and how they are executed in Germany

Apart from the continuous safety inspections within the scope of the supervisory procedure based on the German Nuclear Act the German operators have executed voluntarily for 10 years periodic safety reviews (PSR) of their NPPs.In a parallel process a joint committee of national and state representatives elaborated nationally harmonized guidelines for the performance of PSR and simultaneously practical experience was gathered from the operators during the execution of numerousPSR.Important experience made at Bayernwerk while executing the PSR for the Bavarian NPPs is given. All PSR finished so far show the high safety level of German plants.
