Britain's transportation sector faces an ever deepening skills crisis unless more is done to engage with the next generation, delegates to CIHT's inaugural Skills Summit heard. Nine in 10 employers from the transportation sector are having difficulty filling vacancies and Britain has a shortfall of 47,000 engineers entering the workforce every year, according to skills body Engineering UK. In addition professionals who retire are all too often not being replaced in sufficient number. Challenges and possible solutions to the conundrum were discussed at the CIHT Skills Summit in central London on 26 November, sponsored by Mouchel.
