An assessment of the possible risks of herbal treatments as against their likely benefits,by Professor Edzard Ernst of Peninsula Medical School,Exeter,appears in the BMf for 18 October.Dr Ernst remarks that herbal medicines may derive some potential benefits from the fact that they are highly acceptable to patients,efficatious,relatively safe and relatively cheap to use.
