摘要

Hepatitis A virus (HAV) infection occurs worldwide and is an important cause of acute viral hepatitis in Turkey, as in most developing countries. Seropositivity rates of HAV approach 50% in Turkish children by the age of 10 years1. Hepatitis A is primarily an infection of childhood and mostly asymptomatic in this age group. Neurologic manifestations of the disease are rare and include meningoencephalitis, Guillain-Barre syndrome, optic neuritis, transverse myelitis, and acute disseminated encephalomyelitis2-8. Seizures are rare, and to our knowledge, three pediatric patients with convulsions during HAV infection have been reported9-10. We present a 14-year-old boy with an initial complaint of recurrent seizures during the anicteric phase of HAV infection. Brain magnetic resonance imaging also revealed widespread white matter lesions, which had not been reported before.
