摘要

The International AIDS Conference (IAC) 2012 was held in Washington, DC, in July; returning to the United States for the first time in 22 years after the Obama Administration lifted the ban on travel to the United States for persons living with HIV. The Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC), in close collaboration with the Global HIV Specialty Committee, developed an ambitious agenda to increase nursing's recognition as a key partner in "Turning the Tide against HIV" in conjunction with this year's conference theme. ANAC members participated in months of planning conference calls, prepared a call to action with meetings to rally attendees, developed a symposium that addressed key nursing policy and practice issues, and set the stage for ongoing advocacy at the meeting.
