To understand the future of test it is valuable to remember the most important test of all time was a simple one. Though the developers of the atomic bomb wondered about the actual yield of the device, the real concern was binary - would it be a dud or not? It was a single test that led to immediate operational use in Japan to end World War II and begin the atomic age.
