BASF and Petronas to build polyisobutene plant at Kuantan, Malaysia

BASF and Petronas Chemicals on Tuesday said they will build a world-scale production plant for highly reactive polyisobutene (HR-PIB) at the site of their existing joint venture, BASF Petronas Chemicals at Kuantan, Malaysia. The plant, with a capacity of 50,000 m.t./year of HR-PIB, is expected to start production in the fourth quarter of 2017. It will be the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.
