Under the influence of shutdown of several crackers in Europe due to fire accidents and troubles, ethylene pricesin Asia went up. Accordingly, ethylene-naphtha spread is expanding again.The current spot ethylene price increased by US$70/MT from the previous week to US$1,400/MT CFR NortheastAsia. The spot price returned to the level during the period from late April to Early May. On the other hand, the openspec naphtha spot price at present stayed at US$580/MT to the quotes on CFR Japan basis, up US$25/MT from the priorweek. As a result, Asian ethylene-naphtha spread widened to US$820/MT from US$780/MT, which was accessed lastweek.
