Survey finds intermodal use, service levels on the rise

Use of intermodal shipping is on the rise among Purchasing readers. According to a recent survey, respondents currently ship about 14% of materials via intermodal. But 75% of the those polled say they plan to increase their use of intermodal shipping in the future, citing increased trucking and fuel rates as a driving factor in the decision. And one in five respondents see intermodal service levels improving, driving even more volumes in that direction.
