EPA Proposes Streamlined TRI Reporting Rules

EPA has proposed streamlining the Toxics Release Inventory(TRI)reporting requirements to allow some companies the option to report emissions every two years instead of every year.EPA would also allow small businesses to forgo some reporting requirements,under the proposal.The TRI program was mandated by the 1986 Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act,and environmental groups say it has encouraged companies to take voluntary steps to reduce emissions to avoid the negative publicity associated with being a top TRI polluter.
