ConocoPhillips claimed that the cost of modifying sleeping accommodations on its platforms in the Norwegian North Sea Ekofisk fields could run to a minimum Nkrl-bil (US144-mil) after a Norwegian regulatory body ruled against the US major on safety grounds.The newly established Petroleum Safety Authority Norway intervened in an intense debate on the adverse effects of snoring by workers on offshore platforms,concluding that ConocoPhillips is not operating in accordance with the regulatory requirements for rest and restoration on installations because the facilities have a high level of shared sleeping quarters.
