TESTING FACILITY AT UPASI TEA RESEARCH FOUNDATION

It is of paramount importance to the tea estates to analyse soil samples not only for working out the fertilizer and lime requirements but also for monitoring the fertility status of the different tea fields. UPASI Tea Research Foundation has full fledged soil testing laboratories both at the Tea Research Institute, Valparai and its Regional Centre at Coonoor. These two laboratories are well equipped to undertake the analysis of chemical parameters such as pH, electrical conductivity, organic matter,phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium besides exchangeable micronutrients, cation exchange capacity, degree of potassium saturation, phosphorus and potassium fixing capacity of soils. They are also equipped to analyse physical parameters such asclay, silt and sand contents, water holding capacity, field capacity and bulk density.
