Chicago (pictured) has opened an international design competition to transform its downtown area into a new 'city of lights'. Four design teams will be shortlisted and receive around £15,000 each to develop concept designs to make the city into 'North America's version of Paris'. [Deadline for requests to participate 7 July] The RIBA is seeking a 'creative and ingenious'practice to mastermind the institute's £10,000 exhibition lounge for the upcoming MIPIM UK property show. The winning team will receive £5,000 in fees to design an 'exciting meeting venue with an architectural feel' for inside London's Olympia between 15 and 17 October.
