Taiwan machinery industry thrust on technology & sustainability

Technology, sustainability and innovation - these are the unique qualities of the Taiwanese textile machinery industry and the topics discussed during the international press conference Dress the Future, which was organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) at ITMA 2015. This occasion brought five Taiwanese companies - Pai-Lung, AK Dyeing Machine, ACME, Jen Hour, and CCI Tech - to strengthen their global reputation and exhibit their leading products in Italy, which represents one of the most strategic markets for the Taiwanese textile industry and the fourth largest market for Taiwanese textile machinery exports. In just 50 years, Taiwan has transformed itself from an agricultural economy into one of the most technologically advanced countries not only in Asia but worldwide. According to the World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Report 2013-2014, Taiwan ranked eighth in terms of innovation and was the top nation globally in terms of the state of its cluster development. Taiwan's success can be mainly attributed to the machinery industry's positioning itself as a key player in the international market. Evidence of this is clear from the export figures showing an increase of 2.9 per cent from $3.41 billion in 2014 to $3.51 billion in 2015.
