Calif. PUC adopts smart meter privacy rules, but customer protection questioned

The California Public Utilities Commission on July 28 unanimously approved rules to protect the privacy and security of customer usage data generated by smart meters. But consumer advocates said the rules do not go far enough to assure customers are protected against misuse of their usage information.
