All that is required to make glass is a little sand, a little soda, a little lime, a lot of heat, and a lot of money! Legend has it that glass was first created around 3 000 BC during the Bronze Age. Throughout history, glass has been used for various kinds of bottles, utensils, mirrors, windows and art forms. However, the immense production of modern glass bottles, jars and other containers owes a lot to the invention of a glass-shaping machine that revolutionised the industry.
