Librarians Work with GIS on Enhancements to Polaris 3.2

GIS Information Systems is beta-testing Polaris 3.2, the latest incarnation of its signature ILS solution, but it has proven a team effort between the vendor's developers and numerous members of the Polaris Users Group, who were pivotal in formulating enhancements to the system. Launched in 2001, the group consists of representatives from 43 of the 115 Polaris Anita Wagner institutional cus- tomers. It is a nonprofit organization that collects annual membership dues, elects officers, prioritizes enhancement requests, and plans its own activities, with assistance from GIS. Group officers and vendor staff work closely together—almost on a weekly basis—especially on the enhancement process and in the planning of their annual September conference.
